Chapter 1: Sarah Herman :)


    Hi! My name is Sarah Herman, a Sophmore at FLHS! I am taking this class because I have always wondered what it would be like behind the scenes. Growing up, I wanted to become an actress more than anything. However, while I envisioned myself on the stage, I couldn't resist envisioning myself behind the camera as well. The way each scene in a movie flows from shot to shot and how the graphic designers can make your visions come to life was always amazed me. I used to write down all my movie ideas (looking back, they were actually kind of silly), and how I wanted each shot to look. I have always had a creative mind, and I am able to imagine things the way they would occur in movies. Activities such as dancing with friends, skipping in the rain, or even receiving a round-of-applause after performing, are all memories that I look at as "movie material". In the end, all the special moments in my life can be remembered as "the breath-taking scene". Each memory holds a special place in my heart. If I could display them to the world, I would. This class can teach me how to properly record these things,  and maybe someday, have my name roll up in the credits of my movie.

    As you can probably tell from the title of this blog, I love to read. My favorite books of all time are the Harry Potter series. If I could transport to any alternate universe, Hogwarts here I come! Although reading brings me peace, there is only one thing in this world that makes me happier than anything else. That is my friends. I am a social butterfly, so having friends to text and hang out with is almost like a necessity. While I had a rough patch in my life, my friends acted as my medicine. These few things about me can be the "introductory chapter".

  The titles displayed here are the cast and credit names, such as "Directed by:". - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
  The images that are prioritized here are actually semi- still pictures instead of animated ones. They include pictures of a crushed pumpkin that slowly starts to rise with each title until the pumpkin is alive and lit up through the eyes and mouth. The sequence slowly dims and zooms into the pumpkin until the screen is black and only the pumpkin eyes light the screen. - What connotations do these images carry?
  These images carry a scary connotation as well as set a theme for the entire movie.
