Title Research: Goosebumps 2
From Art of the Title Website
- What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?
This film displays the names of those who wrote and animated the movie first, unlike Silent Hill. This is because of the fact that this movie was entirely animated, so the designers got more credit than the voice actors.
- What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
In this sequence, there are no images. Instead, the title sequence and credits are placed over an animated background of all the different characters from this movie.
- What connotations do these images carry?
These images carry a spooky and horror theme. Although this movie is targeted for a kids audience (I still cant watch it, I get freaked out), it falls under the horror category. This is a halloween based movies with characters such as zombies, walking dolls, mummies, and more.
- How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?
You can automatically know from this outset that the film will be a spooky, in-your-face type of film. Just from the title sequence, you can clearly see the monsters and dolls jumping out at you!
- What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
The monsters are somewhat childish and kid based, ensuring that kids will be frightened, but not too scared to watch these silly cartoons. (Again doesn't apply to me haha!)
- How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques.
Just like Silent Hill, this film is completely animated, along with it's title sequence. The title sequence shows cartoon monsters that jump out at you while you watch the titles and credits roll by. This was 2 minutes of titles completely animated by technology.
