Production Blog: Life in the (Barbie) Dreamhouse!
This spring break was super productive and exactly what I needed to wrap up filming. Up until this break, I only had the beginning few scenes filmed. I realized that I needed to find a night to film my movie, and spend the next day editing. I was able to film my movie in a time period of around 2-3 hours. With the costumes and re-filming, this process took closer to 3 hours. I was able to get the lighting just right, which was a struggle for me. Since some things changed, I have to go back to edit my titles, script, and my schedule. However, after my filming ending so late, I saved editing for the following day. When I pieced my clips together, I had closer to 5 whole minutes of film. This was quite a struggle for me since I didn't know what to cut out or keep in. I eventually narrowed my film down to 2 minutes and 30 seconds. This was the hardest part for me, since I felt that every single shot was necessary for the plot. After a few hours of work, I got my film down to 2 minutes, and added all of the sound effects. Unfortunately, after this day, I was not able to find a generous amount of time to edit my titles in. I am not completely finished, but I did start to edit my titles.
I do have to start over on my titles, since my original plan was to have two titles per 5 seconds. I have recently learned that each title has to be on it's own, and it is best for them not to overlap shots unless there is a purpose for it. The titles will be the first thing I work on fixing since it will be the finishing touches to my film. Once that is done, I will work on fixing my schedules. I like to have the right information in my blogs, and since I filmed on a different day, I wanted to make sure I fix the dates. Lastly, I will work on my shooting and sound script. Because of the fact that my film was way too long, I did have to cut some shots and line out. I will go back to fix that. I would fix my storyboard, but I would have to redraw all 60 slides.
