Creative Critical Reflection Questions

Image
Creative Critical Reflection 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My project definitely challenges convections. In some ways, it does use them. In fact, the point and theme of my music video was to use a convention to get my message across! As far as music videos go, I’d say mine is pretty conventional. It could potentially happen in real life, and the message is one that can be portrayed in every day life. My music video starts with my friend and I laying in bed. We are just on the phone, laying down, doing whatever in bed. Specifically, the first shot shows my friend laying in bed. She looks very sad, and this adds contrast to my music video. I will go into detail about this in my next question. The other conventional scene was of me, also laying in bed. These two scenes are meant to be conventional and boring, in order to show how big of an effect the “haters” have on us. The reason that this is conven...

My Music Video

This is My Music Video! I love how it turned out! The message that was contributed was a combination of two important life lessons that I have learned. One, is to never let "haters" bring you down. I know it might sound cliche, but it's true! There will always be people in life who will try to hate and bring you down, and it's your job not to let them! The second lesson is the fact that you should always utilize an extra shoulder to lean on. This was a common problem for me, as I liked to take everything, all my problems, alone so that I didn't burden anyone else. Over time, I learned that this was not healthy. Taking on every issue on your own can cause mental risks and increases in stress levels. When you have an extra shoulder to lean on, whether that is your friends, parents, teachers, or others, you should never be afraid to use it! After all, that's what friends are for. The reason I chose this song to represent that was because of the fact that L...

Yield! Take 5... Having Second Thoughts?

I finished editing my Music Video on November 25, 2020.  This was over thanksgiving break.  As soon as I was done, I watched it over and over with my friend, who also loved it.        However, if you didn't know, I am a HUGE overthinker.  I had the night to rest, which also gave me time to think about my Music Video, and whether or not my story actually came through.  Of course, when I woke up, I re-watched the video, I found that my message was a bit unclear.  After gathering the opinion of my parents, who found the same thing as me, I decided to edit my video a little bit.      I had filmed a scene that I wasn't sure if I would include or not, but I ended up editing it into my video, and trimming the song down.  This specific scene was the starting scene, and it showed my friend and I upset in our rooms.  Lonely, was the intended message.  I feel that this added a bit of contrast in my Music...

Editing: 30 mph

Do you ever just have this one prominent idea in your head, that you just NEED to write down? Well, in this case, I had this prominent idea of how my Music Video would look. When I got home, I could not wait to get my idea out, edited, and on the screen! My friend ended up staying a bit later that night, so I ended up going to bed. The next day, when I woke up on Wednesday, November 25, I couldn't wait to get up and edit! Editing took me about an hour and a half. The first thing I did was I went through every single one of my clips that I had exported to my computer, and picked out the ones that I liked the best. Once I had that done, I cropped each clip to only fit for one lyric of choice. Next was the hardest part. Aside from making sure all of the clips matched up with the transitions, I had to also make sure that our lip-synching matched the actual lyrics.  I would say about 10 minutes were spent matching up the transitions and lip-synching to the song. Once this was done, I wa...
