Genre Research: Scream
This movie is about kids who continued to be effected by this masked murderer. The movie is called scream because the mask from above is stuck in a permanent scream! In this movie, there are numerous jump scares, which I stated from before, I will not be using. However, there is one scene that heavily influenced my film. The beginning of the movie begins with a creepy phone call with a girl. The killer calls, and has a conversation with this girl. It is completely innocent, until the killer asks for the girl's name. She asks him why he wants to know, before answering " So I know who I am looking at". These words can send a chill up the audiences back. Imagine hearing that line on the phone. The girl begins to panic and eventually runs right into the killer's trap. All this because of the power of his words. I would like my opening sequence to have this effect on the audience, with just the power of it's words.
What elements of the genre did this movie have that you liked?
I love the fact that this horror movie scares this audience out of their seats. I genuinely screamed during this film. Even though it is old, I believe it is one of the best horror movies I've ever watched.
What elements of the genre did this movie have that did not appeal to you?
As good of a movie as this was, I hate the feeling of being scared. This movie was one of those horror movies that you desperately want to stop watching, but you have to keep your eyes glued to the screen. The killer's face was in my head for weeks, as I am an easy scarer. Through all of the difficulties, I still love this movie!!
