Production Blog: (Mini) Lights, Camera, Action!

My last two goals were to start filming my movie, and to figure out a low-key lighting solution for when I film at night! I was fortunate enough to finish one of those things.  I was thinking of ways to solve this problem of the "low-key lighting" when I decided to take a break. As I was messing with the TikTok app, I found that my sister had a small phone ring light, which I included a picture of at the top. After messing with the settings, I found that if you turn on the lowest setting of the ring light while in the dark, it illuminates just enough features of the actor's face, but still keeps it clear that we are in the dark. I tried filming a few sample videos with the light, and it worked perfectly!! Since this solved my first goal, I tried to set aside time to film this weekend. However, this past weekend was kind of hectic, and the times that I was able to film, none of the things I needed were available, such as my mom's car or my little sister. This past week, I got a car!!  This will make things significantly easier since I can film and go out to get the props as I please.

My next two goals will be to plan out my makeup designs, costumes in specific, and to start filming the beginning portion of my movie. I want to have my makeup planned out to make sure my characters look natural. The Barbie statue is the one exception to this. I want her to look as "glamed-up" and fake as possible. The next thing I will do is plan out my costumes according to the clothes that I own. Again, I want these actresses to look as normal as possible. After all, it is just a babysitting job. The Barbie statue will of course, have a bright pink dress.  She will not blend in. This is key. The last part of my goals will be to of course, start filming. If I do not get the opportunity to film, I may have to alter my schedule.
