Step on The Gas! Filming in Process!

Image
Last Tuesday, November 24, I had my friend Catarina over to film my Music Video. We had this day off, along with the rest of the week, due to thanksgiving break, and I decided to utilize this opportunity to have Cat over.I texted her the information about the commercial, including what to wear and what to expect. However, my friend is NOT the brightest. 😂 Cat came over wearing a black shirt!... but black sweatpants as well. This shifted the plan a little bit, but only the smallest amount. I went upstairs to change into black sweatpants, and all was good! I made sure to grab makeup and two pairs of glasses, and we were off.      I drove the two of us to an empty parking lot right by my house, and we began to film. The first thing we did was connect my phone to the car speaker and set my phone up to film us. I filmed the two of us dancing and singing to the song in the car, and later cut out the clips I liked to put them in the Music Video. The car was pa...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
First Scene- The first scene of my music video will be myself sitting in my bed, looking upset. I suddenly look down at my phone, and the scene cuts off as I reach for it. Second Scene- This switches to my friend in her bedroom, where her phone starts to buzz. I will have my voice over on the video saying something to the effect of "I'm tired of letting these haters get us down".  Third Scene- The music will start to fade in as my friend and I share a smile. This scene will have a split screen in order to show both of us at the same time. Fourth Scene- This is the scene in which I will look down and hang up the phone. My friend and I will get up and start to get ready as this scene fades into the next. Fifth Scene- This will set an establishing shot of the parking lot and the car in which my friend and I will be singing on. It will be day time when we film this shot. Sixth Scene- This will be a low angled shot of the car, and it will cut from each angle of the car until ...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
My music video will be an even mix of conventional and non-conventional shots. Obviously, people don't burst out singing in every-day life. However, everything besides that will be conventional. Jeans, black shirts, make-up, pajamas, cars, car keys, phones, and pets are things that we can observe in our every day life. Since there is no specific product being sold in a music video, I decided to look at some well known rap/ diss track songs and their music videos in order to observe what is needed in mine.      The first video I watched is obviously the music video of the song that I am using, “First Place” by Larray.  Larray has a very big personality, like mine, and he often is portrayed as a happy, go-lucky, youtuber that is all around fun. In his music video, larray and his friend are dancing to his song and driving around in his car. There are some scenes where he is lip-synching and others where he is dancing.  He includes many cool angl...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Part of original music video! ^^ Props: My music video will consist of many different props. Since I am filming a rap track with many different topics, so I will be using many different props and appearing in many different places. It is not completely clear yet, but I believe some of my props will include a car, car keys, a phone, my dog, and more! We may also film some parts at night, in which case my props can include special lights and glow-in-the-dark items. Costume: I am filming with my best friend, so we will be wearing matching outfits. We want to look like we’re crushing our “haters”, so we will also have makeup on. Our outfits will consist of a black shirt or tank top, blue j...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
For this music video, I have chosen to work partially alone. The reason I say partially is because I will use the help of my friend to film for my music video. I have many reasons that explain why I would chose to work alone. To start, I find that in all projects , I personally work better alone. I get my work done faster, and I don't have to rely on anyone except for myself. Additionally, since I can drive, it is easier to go places, film, and then come back home without the stress of making plans. Recently, I have had some experiences that have made my tighten my circle a little, and only rely on my close friends.  For this reason, I will be filming my music video with one of my friends that I’ve known since birth.  She is my twin flame, my other half.  Of course, since she does not attend my school, I will be doing all of the work.  I wanted to film with her because she is someone who I am very close with, and I want to share this fun ex...

Promotional- CCR

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?       My product uses conventions in order to show differentiation between the “normal, conventional world” and “the colorful world of gushers”. In the beginning of my commercial, I used conventions to portray a normal setting with normal people and occurrences. Then, I used something non-conventional, like the gushers in the tree, to show how my product can have an impact. My commercial represents a the group of society that is still enduring childhood. This appeals to them as gummies, candy, and playing around is generally directed towards a younger group of society. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?      My commercial can be distributed as a real media text as a TV commercial for gushers. My product engages with audiences by showing the audience the impact of gushers on a plain day. By...

My Gushers Commercial

Image
After much editing and trimming of each shot, this is my final commercial! Like I wrote before, I have always wondered what it would be like to be the director of something.  As much as I love the spotlight, it feels more comfortable when I am behind the camera and in charge of each scene.  Of course,  I have edited numerous videos of my sister for my parents to see, but nothing that could be displayed on TV today. One thing I learned in this project was to try new things. I have seen many of the transitions I used, in movies that I watched. Even though they took a considerable amount of time to film, I still think they came out really nicely. Another thing I learned was to always have a back up shot, or plan at that.  My sister and I were lucky enough to go to the park on a day where it was nice out. However, every shot I took, I made sure to film an extra one, just incase the shot I originally liked, didn't come out the way I wanted it. W...
